New Ms Fit Feature: Kate Horwood
This London based fitness guru has been busy interviewing health and wellness experts around the globe to share their health tips and advice with us through her second worldwide health summit called Shape the Rest of Your Life. This summit kicked off this week so be sure to sign up today to get in on all of this valuable information for long term health.
Kate has been busy around the clock putting her interview series together, so we are so grateful she was able to let us turn the tables for this feature.
WHAT IS KEEPING YOU BUSY THESE DAYS?
LOTS! I've just spent the past two months creating and expert online interview series on health, fitness and wellness. It's been amazing interviewing all the experts and having such profound conversations - knowing that the info could really change a person's health for the long term, but it's also been a ton of work and rather ironically I've neglected my health so it's definitely time for some R&R!
I've also been keeping up my regular work which consists of training my private clients, teaching classes and doing the odd spot of freelance design work if I have time!
Aside from work, I just planted seeds and flowers in the pots on my outdoor roof terrace! It may sound trivial, but I LOVE seeing them grow, tending to them and creating a colourful little wildlife patch that I look out onto every morning!
Lastly, dating - I'm single and feel ready to meet Mr. Right, so I'm getting back out there in the dating world which has been fun!
TELL US ABOUT THE WELLNESS SUMMIT YOU CREATED AND THE INSPIRATION BEHIND IT?
I see and hear from many people who struggle with their health and/or weight, and to me it's so clear where they're going wrong - it's not actually their fault, it's what we've been conditioned to believe through the media, conventional medicine and outdated methods of the past (these may get quick fixes but not long-term results and, at worst, they could be harming their body and causing it to hold on to weight)!
So, I want to share with as many people as possible, that it really doesn't have to be that way! In order to achieve a healthy body both inside and out, one that is their ideal body-weight, toned, strong and supple - it doesn't involve punishing fitness regimes and restrictive diets, it really doesn't, and I know this first hand myself. I spent much of my late teens and early twenties counting calories and the fat content of everything. Or working out in an obsessive way, just not listening to my body. I had it ALL wrong. It is 100% possible to make peace with your body, be at ease with food, be slim, toned and strong and basically love yourself and feel good, through approaching health and wellness holistically, approaching fitness in an intelligent way connected to our body and doing/eating what truly feels good for you.
So I've brought together an amazing line up of fitness, wellness, health experts, doctors, naturopaths and therapists to explain how!
HOW CAN PEOPLE SIGN UP FOR THE SUMMIT TO RECEIVE DAILY EMAILS FROM THE EXPERTS YOU HAVE BROUGHT TOGETHER?
All people need to do is follow this link - www.shapeyourlifesummit.com - sign-up, (watch my video if you like!), and you will automatically receive two interviews per day in one email. We launched yesterday but there will be catch-up time over the weekend so you won't miss any of the interviews that have already aired.
WHAT ARE YOU LOVING IN FITNESS AND FASHION RIGHT NOW?
In fitness I'm loving sprint sessions in the early evening around my local (and favourite) park here in London - Battersea Park - it's right on the river Thames and just stunning. I'm also currently doing a Tracy Anderson DVD at home. I like to keep my mind fresh and stop my body plateauing so I have about 50+ barre, functional movement DVDs that I rotate. I just pick them at random and do them for about 6-8 weeks! I'm also doing circuit training once a week at the gym which I love and allows me to really push my body and express my competitive edge. Lastly, after having interviewed foam rolling expert, Lauren Roxburgh, I am doing more foam rolling!
Fashion wise, I LOVE fashion and used to work in the industry before moving to fitness. In no particular order I'm currently loving: delicate jewellery with tiny sparkly stones (preferably real!); layering rings and fine charm necklaces; wearing tonal head to toe outfits with a contrasting shoe colour - for example navy top, blue jeans, tan boots/shoes; my faithful old leather jacket that is timeless and works with everything; feminine embroidered bomber jackets; my washed out over-dyed brushed cotton plaid shirt; toned down outfits with lustrous hair and sleek makeup, Nike Air Roshe runs and lastly, my Balenciaga Papier A6 bag which goes with everything!
